Making Body Butter

I started doing Ashiatsu (Barefoot Massage) 10 years ago. Because I’m standing on the client, adding more oil or lotion once I’m up there is difficult.

Body Butter does not absorb into the skin as quickly as oil, or lotion.

I started making it right away, but what I’m whipping up now is much nicer, and healthier too!

Start with good product!

Organic Shea Butter, and Organic Coconut oil go into all of my whipped body butter recipes. 50% Shea Butter, 25% Coconut Oil, and the rest varies. Either olive oil, jojoba oil, almond oil, magnesium oil, or a combination, and essential oils.

Your skin is the largest organ of your body and since it is porous, it absorbs whatever you put on it. I only use what I’d want to put into my system. By using plant extract, and essential oil, I create different recipes for desired results.

Infusing Plants into oils

I  add essential oils for the scent, and also the plant medicine.

I’ve made enough to know what it should look, and feel like, and how to correct it.

The consistency needs to be right at room temp. Cooling in the refrigerator speeds up the process, but it needs to maintain the consistency when it cools back down.

It should look and feel like a whipped light frosting.

To oily needs more butter – Shea, Mango, or Cocoa Butter.

To stiff needs more oil – Jojoba is great for this, but Olive or other oil will also work.

Add essential oil after you have cooled, and started whipping. Adding essential before cooling will begin diffusing it into your kitchen.
